Why are some Native American people more popular than other NA people like the Sioux and why famous Indians?
Hello,
why are some Native Americans more popular than other Native Americans? I looked into wikipedia and it gives me dozends of different Native American People. Many of them i never heard before.
Well i heard of the Sioux, the Apaches, the Cherokees and the Irokesen.
Ok and my question is why those are so popular? ( ok, i am a noob in native americans, but i think those are the most popular native americans)
I guess the Sioux, the Apaches and the Cherokees became famous because of the movies. The Irokesen i guess because of the hairstyle they had (and which is popular by punks now)
So were the named Native Americans special than other Native Americans like good warriors or did the moviemakers "used" them because....yeah, i don`t know. Or does it have nothing to do with the movies?
Oh and why is Sitting Bull such famous? (Are there any other well-known indians?)
Um, why did Sitting Bull joined the WildWestShow by Buffalo Bill? What reasons?
First of all it is not a question of popularity.
The tribes that refer to are better known because of their interaction / wars with the english who came to this country in 1492. History is recorded by the victorious and not it is not always accurate ( why would they tell on themselves).
You mention the Cherokee nation, are you aware that when the english came to this country they slaughtered the natives.
beacuse the english though they were barbarians because they had no wriiten language. When the Cherokee Chief, Sequoia learned this, he developed the cherokee alphabet and began to teach the tribe to write in his new language.
It is still used to this day. His actions only brought more death and destruction to his people.
I would sugest that you dig a little deeper into american history. You mention Sitting Bull. who after his people were slaughtered and he was old and unable to fight anymore beacme a sideshow attraction for the wild west show.
I believe that this was done more out of desperation than anything else. Sitting bull was a proud Chief and warrior who kept the U.S Calvary at bay for years.
